Merdeka Gate Away... Part I

It was a long weekend during the Merdeka celebration on 31st August 2008. I took this opportunity to go back to Kuching and visited a National Park which is about 2 hours drive from Kuching. It is good to escape from the city and explore the nature sometimes. There are a lot of things you can see and do at the National Parks. You can see the different types of plants, flowers, fungus, inserts, animals, swimming in the waterfalls or streams, hiking in the jungle trails and take a walk around the Park and stroll along the beaches. It is very calming, you can breath a fresh air, hear the birds singing and etc. It is worthwhile to visit and to get to know the National Parks at your own country.

Which National Park did I visit? Here it is...

Yes, I went to visit the Gading National Park with my cousins. We left Kuching at 11.00a.m on 30th August 2008 and reached Lundu town at around 1.30p.m. Before heading to the Gading National Park, we went to the Market to buy some fruits and had our lunch. After lunch, we drove to the Park which is only about 15 - 20 minutes drive from Lundu town.

Upon arrival at the Park, you must register at the Park's entrance and paid RM10.00 each. We parked our car and went to the Park Office to register for a 1 night stay in the Park. The accomodation is very limited, the Park only has 2 chalets and 1 unit of hostel with 4 rooms. We stayed at the hostel which cost RM40.00 per room per night. The room consist of 2 double-bunk beds with shared toilet and bathroom.
